Looking for The Dude

Well tonight was exciting.  We signed Aden up for first grade at Holland Elementary!  I guess this is when that "time goes so fast when you have kids" finally kicks in.  I love my kids but it has been a really long five years.  I can't remember life before Aden!  Aden's friend Jack was there which made him happy.  The principal was very nice.  We had a long chat with him.  The drop off is going to be hard for me.  It's sad I can't go in with him and play with his friends!

A quick post tonight.  Sunday we headed out to Cherry Hill to hang with Jackie, Greg and Jacob.  I think Ariel was more excited to see Jacob than Aden.
After lunch at Grand Lux, the boys had a red light, green light race.
 Ariel just watched.
 We then went bowling!
Ariel couldn't wait for her turn!

We had a lot of fun and funny moments.  None of us were very good.

 What is your score Ariel?
Jacob's ball actually stopped rolling!  Someone had to walk out and get it.  I never saw that before.

The boys were checking out the final score.
It's kind of crazy but both the boys got 88!  What are the chances of that?  No hurt feelings!  Plus they beat all the adults!
A little more red light green light before we left.

Color Week

Taking a break from the weekend to talk about color week.  All last week and today, Ariel's class focused on a color.  They had special activities and color coordinated treats supplied by the parents.  If you look closely, I'm not sure Derek's parents fully understood the concept.
Some day were easier than others.  Red day was no sweat.

Orange day was a bit tougher.  Ariel and several of her friends had to break out the almost too small Halloween clothes.
Yellow day we resorted to a pajama top.

For green day she had to raid Aden's closet.

 I was in the spirit.
Again she was in an Aden shirt for blue day.

I should have taken more pictures of these.
Again I was ready.  The kids loved this hat.
Let go daddy! You are embarrassing me!
We finally ended with purple day.
It was our turn to bring in some treats.

Some of their artwork.
While all this was going on, Aden's class was on a trip to England.  He got dressed up to meet the Queen!

This was kind of funny.  Ariel is going to Breezy Point Camp this summer.  They sent her a t-shirt which came with this.  Aden strangely has no recollection of taking this picture!

Pants On His Head

We had a pretty quiet weekend.  Last Friday, Aden's class celebrated Dr. Suess birthday.  Aden's teacher told them to dress silly.  I looked up online what kids traditionally wear and usually it's something that evokes a Dr. Suess character.  For some reason, Aden thought that meant wearing pants on his head.  He drove me nuts that morning till I let him wear mismatched clothes and pajamas bottoms on his head.
I will explain later why Ariel is wearing an old Aden shirt here.
So I get him to school a little late and they had already started.  The kids were in a circle and three of his friends were sitting next to each other all with pants on their head!  The boys must have planned this.  I'm glad I let him do it, he would have been sad if he was the only one without.  I wish he had just told me it was the plan.  His teacher seemed confused by the outfits but she did say silly and it did make me laugh.
This is hanging in Ariel's room.  I guess we have to work on the greetings.
Baking cookies early Saturday morning.  I always let him crack the egg.  Probably not the best idea.
Soccer.  I only took a few pics.  Ariel kept running out onto the field.
The coach had a pink ball to keep her busy.
She had fun chasing around Aden and Brody after practice.
This is new and kind of annoying, especially while it's still cold out, but Ariel needs to climb into the car and get into her seat herself.  She freaks out if we try to help.
It takes her a really long time but she is determined and always gets in.
It was nice Saturday so we took a drive up to Peddler's Village to walk around.  Amy wants new knobs for the kitchen so we let the kids pick them out.

 Candy store!

She had no idea what she was looking at.  She just grabbed any random thing.
Silly smile while we ate out cupcakes.
We only walked around a little.
Ariel needed a nap but it was nice to to have been outside a little.
