Yay Melissa!

So I have been clenching my teeth while I sleep and having tooth pain when I'm awake. I went to the dentist and orthodontist and together, they are going to make me some sort of night guard. Let's see if I can sleep with that. We had lunch at Toscana again. It's been open 3 weeks and we have been there several times for lunch and my parents have been there for dinner. It's exciting to get something new, you just don't want to overdo it and get sick of it too soon. I was helping in the factory by banging lids onto pails with a big hammer. Very cathartic.

Melissa accepted a job offer! We are so excited for her. We were all there to support her through grad school, has it really been 2 years already, and know how hard she worked for this. I will leave it up to her to tell you the details. Amy and I took her out to Continental to celebrate and have a drink!

Finish those fries Amy!

Love those desserts.

Pretty

Amy almost matches the trees below.  Last night, I cooked dinner for the girls as usual. Melissa had a presentation today at the hospital so she practiced on us.  All about how swallowing is affected by medications.

I love when the blossoms fall off the trees and go everywhere.  It's a shame it wasn't sunny out.

mmmmmm, Pizza!

Sunday, Amy I did nothing down the Shore except lay around.  Cold and windy so no exercise.  We drove back, eating at Chilis on the way.  So much to unpack for just us.  What's going to happen when we have to pack for the baby also?  We met Adam, Kasia and Lianna and Mark and Melissa at Tacconelli's in Port Richmond.  For those of you who haven't had the pleasure, it's a pretty famous place.  Food TV is always talking about it.  The oven is like 100 years old and they only make one pie at  a time.  For that reason, you have to order your pies in advance.  They only serve pizza.  Nothing else.  Only added beverages recently.  People bring wine, salads and desserts.  Adam reserved 4 pies for the 6  and 1/2 of us.

Lianna has her father's huge personality.

The oven.

Plain pie on top and white below.  Mark, get that cheese of your chin!

I can't believe she is already 2 and speaks both Polish and English!

Lianna took this pic!

and this one...

We pigged out like usual.  I had 5 slices.  Ugh.  It's now Monday at 10:35 and I'm still tasting the garlic from last night!

This is something that always bothered me.  Besides hating the hand dryers in the bathroom because they don't dry, they usually have a statement like this...

While I agree it's nice to save the trees, where does the electricity come from to run these things?  Coal fired power plants!

Waffles and Ice Cream

This is now Sunday night and we are watching Desperate Housewives.  We just got back from eating at Tacconellis, but more on that later.  Saturday we slept in, so much for the exercise we planned on.  The weather wasn't so great anyway.  The house was so quiet.  Especially as Amy's family decided not to come down.  Amy was ready for Passover to end and I agreed so what better place then Dinos in Margate!  It's one of our favorite places in the world for a sandwich.

Amy went for the chicken steak...

but I went for the traditional steak with sauce and fried onions.  Yummy.

Always busy, even off season.

We are not used to being in Margate when things are in bloom.  Pretty.

Caught a picture of the Greenhouse while driving by.  Melissa says she's not going back this Summer but I don't believe her.  It's really hard to explain this place so I won't even try.

Saturday night we ended up at Caesars.  It's been the place to go for the last couple of Summers.  The took over the mall across the boardwalk and made it awesome.

On the bridge between the casino and the mall over the boardwalk.

It's dark in there so it's hard to take pictures but it's really nice.

Cool view of the beach.

We had dinner at Game On, the sports bar.  We hadn't been there before but the Phillies and Flyers were playing and what better place to watch than a place with 70 hi def tvs.  The food was good and the both the teams won, that was even better!

The people that built the crazy fountain at the Bellagio in Las Vegas built this much smaller version in the mall.  It goes crazy every hour.

The mall is over the ocean.  Don't fall in Amy!

They spent a fortune on the place.

This is the restaurant in Casears.  It's owned by George Perrier of Le Bec Fin.  That better be one awesome pizza for $75!

What is this color supposed to be?  Yuck.

And I complain about the one hour drive from the City to Margate.

We ran into my cousins Cheryl and Bob who happened to mention that Two Cents Plain was open.  There was no keeping Amy away from those waffles and ice cream!

I will talk about Sunday later...

The Shore

We are down the Shore.  We had dinner last night at the Anchorage Inn in Somer's Point with Adam and Ellen.  Didn't take any pictures.  We talked until pretty late.  It's now Saturday morning and we are using someone else's internet connection trying to decide what kind of exercise to do...

Parking Wars

This picture is from this morning.  Last night Amy went to the gym to meet her trainer.  I came later.  Pam and Richard were there.  They are getting married on Mother's Day.  Exciting for them.  It was such a nice night, we walked over to Marathon Grill on Chestnut and met Melissa and Mark.  It was over an hour wait at El Vez, where we wanted to go.  It worked out better as Marathon had a Passover menu.

Have you caught that show in A&E where they follow around the Philadelphia Parking Authority?  I caught them filming it.  It's pretty funny.  You should try and catch it.  I think it's called Parking Wars.

I lived with Jaime at the Cosmopolitan apartments on Locust during law school.  This is the door man Larry.  He is always there so we stop in to say hi sometimes.  He is a pretty funny guy.  He loved Amy's belly.

We are going to spend the weekend in Margate.  Adam and Ellen will also be down so we will have friends to hang with.  We probably won't have internet access, which sucks, but it will be nice to get away.

The Answer is Probably No :-(

Well, after becoming very optimistic that this could be our house, Amy's parents did their best to convince us that is is probably not. I was even warming up to the idea of leaving the city. As it now takes about 2 months to get a mortgage approved, this was our last shot before the baby came. Her father just thinks that for the money, there are too many things wrong with the house. I guess we'll try again in the fall.

We went to see another house also. It was in the same price range and was really nice, but not my style and it was right on Holland Road. You would think that after living on South Street that I wouldn't mind a little traffic noise, but I think I'm ready for quiet.

The owner was there with his havanese.

I sat outside this morning with Jenny.  She wanted to play ball!

Chloe.  Still not used to that haircut.

This is that bathroom at Amy's house.  Cute border.

Could This Be Our House?

Tonight we are going to take a second look at this house. We are very close to putting a bid on it!
