So Amy and I went to Abington Hospital last night for a tour. There were about 15 other couples there, and they said it was a slow night! It was neat to see the different women and the way they were carrying. We talked to a girl due in 4 weeks and you could barely tell! A really nice nurse met with us in the auditorium and gave us the overall picture of how it all works.
We then went up to see the maternity floor. This is one of the rooms where you give birth. That light comes down from the ceiling when it's time. The monitor next to the nurses head is following all the women and not-yet-to-be-born's status. Behind her is the warming bed where the baby stays after birth. They encourage you to keep the baby with you the whole time you are there. The babies get bracelets with tracking devices so the nurses always know where they are.
I didn't get a good picture, but here is the nursery! It was full of babies. There were even twins. They brought them to the window so we could see them. They were so little and one was really red! Most had hair too. I'm starting to get nervous about all this! They said the father gets to cut the umbilical cord, I said Melissa can do it!
