The Return of AOPi

This is now Sunday night and I'm recovering from the weekend.  I think I will try and go to bed early, but before that, I thought I might get Friday out of the way.  My walking buddy Melissa and I left pretty early to head across Margate.  Here we are passing through Marvin Gardens.  In case you didn't know, Monopoly is based on Atlantic City and the surrounding towns.

I can barely keep up with her on a good day and I was still recovering from my mystery illness and it was hot so I was struggling.

This lifted my spirits though!

Another stupid plate.
So we got back and Amy and her mom had gone to get their nails done so Mel took me to Smith Bros. to do a little shopping.  We left Jenny in the backyard.  She loves to be outside and we figured she would be fine.  Mel bought a cute top, which you will see in Saturday's pictures.  It had been warm and sunny but on the way home, the sky turned black and it started pouring.  As we pulled up the house we remembered Jenny and found her stuck in the fence.  She was scared and wet and had tried to break out of the yard.  I yelled "Jenny's escaping!"  Melissa ran out in the storm to get her.

It was pouring!

The streets flood quickly.  Any new construction has to be built in the air.

Jenny, who smelled like wet dog, was trying to look out the window.

As fast as the rain started, it stopped and the sky cleared.  Amy, Melissa and I walked to the beach.  It was empty!

Never too far from Facebook!

After the beach, my cousin Jen stopped by with Jonah.  It was his first birthday last week.  We got him a cute outfit, which he seemed to like.

How great is the red hair?

I went with Melissa to pick up her friends at the Caesars bus station.  We had some time to kill so we did a little more shopping at the Pier.  I have posted pics of it before.  It's a very high end mall with Gucci, LV, etc.

At the base of the mall is an amazing candy store.

The girls called, the bus was delayed, so I decided to make Amy a personalized candy bar!

I got to walk around the store and pick loose candies to put in the bar.  Got some chocolate covered peanuts and oreos, etc.  Melissa suggested Gummi Bears, ewww!

While I was waiting for the candybar to cook, I checked out the old time candy.  Isn't Fruit Stripes the best!  Too bad the taste lasts about 15 seconds.

Here it comes!

She will love it!

Some wisdom for the ages.

After pigging out on candy, mind you this was like an hour before dinner, Melissa decided she needs some "real" food.  We took off down the boardwalk, which is scary, but no too bad before dark.  Very few of the little stores and restaurants have survived the casinos.  It's a shame.

A look back at the Pier.

How could be we not stop here?!?

We ended up with cheese fries and a corn dog!  She had never had a corn dog and will probably never have one again, but the fries were good.  Yum, Cheese Whiz.

The seagulls were crazy.  They were dive bombing people and taking food from their hands. Then they were in the trash cans.

Finally, they were coming so had to head back.

She decides we can work off the candy, corn dog and cheese fries by walking up the stairs.

We took the girls back to the house so they could change and we walked to Tomotoes.  Here are the beautiful girls, Lauren, Jamie, Stef, Mel and Lauren.

Mel and Lauren.

I think Mel is ready for her own ring.  Hint, Mark, hint.

Everyone enjoyed the meal.  Amy was tired so she went back.  I joined the girls at the Greenhouse.  It was really quiet so we didn't stay long.
