Honkey Tonk Central

It's Monday night.  We spent hours outside after school and work.  It was nice to be outside and the kids weren't too crazy.  The bugs got bad so we had to give up but that wasn't until after 7.  Amy went to a meeting for Ariel's cheerleading.  She's worried it's going to be too much for all of us if she continues.  Back to Nashville.  While we were at the Grand Ole Opry, the older kids were swimming with my parents.

Then they went out to dinner.

We left the Opry and headed back to the hotel to finally check in.

 The room was really cool.

We had a living room and a door to Ali and Todd's room!

The shades strangely automatically opened at 7am!

Down the stairs to the lobby.

Ready for a fabulous dinner.
Ali thankfully got us a reservation at one of the hardest places in the city to get in.  We were excited to taste the food at Etch.
And it did not disappoint.  In fact, it might have been one of the best meals I ever ate.  There were so many things in the description of my dish that actually sounded unappetizing to me but I ordered it anyway.  Lamb Loin with:

golden spiced cauliflower, citrus preserves, popped quinoa & sour cherry salad, red bell yogurt, saffron yellow beet sauce, sugar snap peas, charred eggplant sauce

Everything worked so well together.  I cleaned my plate!  Todd got the scallops which our concierge said changed his life!  We all enjoyed our food immensely.
Then we walked over to Broadway to really experience Nashville.  It was like a mini Bourbon Street.  Totally crazy, if not a little bit cleaner.  It was bar after bar with live music.
We just picked one at random and went in.
We loved the music and had some drinks!
Or not.
It was crowded.  We wandered from bar to bar.
Stopped along the way for sweets
 and cowboy boots!
We ended the night at Honky Tonk Central.  It was 3 floor bar with a band on each floor!
 Floor two for us!
The bands were all really good probably because they were trying to be discovered.
The Nashville Predators hockey team had their playoff game one block away!  When they lost everyone came out to the bars to drown their sorrows.
Sunday morning it was finally warm and sunny.  We walked back down Broadway to catch a tour bus.  We passed what the locals call the Batman building.
There's the Titan's football stadium across the Cumberland River.

We hopped onto a trolley and finally got a great look at the city.
 The convention center.
 Johnny Cash museum.
 The State House.
The Parthenon.  What?  Yes, the Parthenon.  It was recreated for a World's Fair in the 1800's!  It's in way better shape than the one in Greece.
We got off the bus at Vanderbilt University to walk around.  It was a huge school!  And very quiet.  We didn't see anyone.
Graduation was later in the week.  Stay tuned for part 3!
