Halloween Not

It's Wednesday night and normalcy is returning.  My parents, Amy's parents, Bev and my grandmother all have their power back.  It's still out in the area and driving is not easy but people are trying their best.  Halloween was postponed by the township until next week.  I sent a mass email to our neighborhood suggesting we go ahead with trick or treating tonight as we are a self contained street that never lost power and had no damage.  Some of the neighbors were with me but a bunch thought we should listen to the township and I was overruled.  I live with a bunch of goodie goodies!  One person even said we should have solidarity with our community.  As far as I can tell, the community is not happy we never lost our power.

Anyway, back to Tuesday morning.  I went to check on my grandmother and parents.  It was difficult crossing Street Road without traffic lights.
What a mess.
This was a common scene.
Bev and my grandmother came over for some heat and warm food.
Aden and I made brownies.

Wednesday morning, Amy wanted to take some Halloween pictures.  It was Ariel's first!

Aden was finally back in school.  All the local school districts will be closed for the week.  For the second year in a row, the Halloween parade at Breezy Point was cancelled.  Instead they just had parties in the classrooms.
Our little ninja.

They all had fun.  I guess we will have to wait for trick or treating.

11 Months

It's Tuesday night, we survived day 2 of Hurricane Sandy.  We never lost power last night, which is awesome.  We seem to have been the only street in Bucks County not to lose power.  This morning, I could not get in touch with my parents or grandmother so I went to check on them.  I will share some of the pictures from my drive later.  Let's just say, it was a mess.  It was hard to get around with all the traffic lights out.  My grandmother was fine in her cold, dark house.  I hung out for a while but could not get her to come back with me.  My parents were the same.  Cold but didn't want to leave their house.  We had fun all day.  My dad went and grabbed my grandmother and brought her to my house for dinner.  Afterwards, her power came back on.  We know so many people at hotels.  They are saying it could be a week before everyone gets their power back.

Sunday, we carved a pumpkin!  Or should I say Melissa carved a pumpkin.

Aden would not put his hands inside.

 Go Melissa Go!
 It came out great.

 Dinner at grandmom and grandpops.
 Monday morning.

 Ariel watched the storm.

 Aden's little house blew away.
Oh yeah, it was Ariel's 11 month birthday!
It took a while to get a decent shot.
She was not cooperating but this is the one that made it on Facebook.

Hurricane Sandy

What a night!  First of all don't hate us but we never lost power.  We watched on Facebook as people reported power outages all around us.  It wasn't too bad most of the day.  We stayed in and played with the kids.  The worst of it seemed to come after dinner. We were horrified watching the destruction at the Shore.  I will never forget the images of the WaWa in Margate half submerged in water and the boardwalk washing away in Atlantic City.  We still don't know the extent of the damage down there but it must be terrible.  By early evening the house was shaking and the lights blinked but never went out.  Ariel went to sleep in her crib but Aden ended up with us in bed.  Hope you are all ok out  there.  It's Tuesday morning at 9 and we are having a hard time getting in touch with people.

Saturday afternoon we went to Sesame Place.  We went opening day in order to pick up our season passes so we could use them at Sea World in Orlando.  Sunday was closing day.  So we went opening and almost closing days and not in between.  I think we may skip on the season passes next year.  It's just too crowded during the summer.  Aden was all dressed and ready to go!
Ariel was excited too but she wouldn't wear her costume.
 We loved the decorations.
 The place was packed!

 Trick or treat!
 "Who are you?" "I'm Batman!"

 Crazy crowded.
We went to see the Count's Halloween Spectacular.

This is always Aden's face watching and characters he knows live.  He doesn't know what to make of it.

 No water rides today.
There were some cool mazes to walk through.

Aden wanted to go to the top of the ropes.
First a quick trick or treat stop.
 The view from the top.

That was a lot of work getting down.  Saturday night, Sydney babysat and we met a big group of friends for dinner at Brio is Cherry Hill.  It was a fun night and the kids were good for Sydney.
