Air But Not Space

Last Friday was our first full day in Washington.  I got up early and went for a run.  I was surprised that you could walk right up to the Capital Building and even sit on the steps.

Impressive place.
The view down the Mall.
Quite a different day.  I think I preferred the 80s of the day before.
After running, I headed back and got everyone going.  We walked to the Air and Space Museum.
This is the new Native American Museum.
There was a huge line at Air and Space.  It moved quickly though.
When you walk in you first see the Starship Enterprise.  We were sad to find out they are in the process of rebuilding the whole building and the Space section was closed.  Bummer.
They had the actual Wright brothers plane!  So cool.

Lots of planes.
Aden and Melissa.
There was a little bit of space stuff to see.

They had the backups of all the Mars rovers.
This is the actual Apollo 11 capsule.

Lindbergh's Spirit of St. Louis.
Of course we had to buy the astronaut freeze dried ice cream.  I haven't had it there since I was a kid!  You can see Ariel didn't like it.  Lol.
We had a quick lunch at a food court nearby then we took an Uber to the Lincoln Memorial.
Such a cool place!

The view from up there.  Remember this from Forrest Gump?  When Forrest gave an anti war speech and he saw Jenny and ran to her through the water?

The water was low so Aden was able to act like Forrest.
The WW2 Memorial.

The White House!
That night we ate dinner at the hotel then let the kids run around the lower level of the hotel.
Have a great weekend!
