Cheer Wildwood

It's Sunday night and we are back from an adventure.  We spent the long, holiday weekend in Washington D.C.  It was fun but it's hard traveling with this group!  Speaking of traveling, last Saturday, I headed to Wildwood with Ariel for cheer.  Last year, they performed in the morning so we went the night before and stayed at our shore house.  This time, they were on at 5 so there was no rush to go but that also meant I had to drive both ways in one day.  About 5 hours.
We stopped by the house to check on it.
Aden came for the ride.  We walked to the Dairy Bar for lunch.  It was the first day it was open for the season!
Missed this place.
Yum.
Then we headed to Wildwood, about 40 minutes away.
Can't believe it was a year ago we were here.

We had to get ready!
We left Ariel and took a walk on the boardwalk.
It has been many years since I walked the Wildwood Boardwalk.
Some stores were open.  Cool coaster.
Aden wanted candy.
$100 worth!
We ran into some of Ariel's friends.

We found Mack's Pizza.  It used to be connected with Manco's Pizza in Ocean City, our favorite.  It had the same layout as the Mancos.  Of course I had to try it.
This was funny.  I did have a slice stolen by a seagull once.
It was good.  Tasted just like Mancos.
We got back see Ariel all dolled up.

The girls warmed up.

We got our seats.
This was backstage.
Here they come!
Here are some action shots.
I love Ariel's face.

They did it!
At home there was a huge line of storms going through. There were tornadoes!  Amy and the kids stayed in the basement.  We had some time before the storms would get to us.  It was warm but we had a tornado watch.
Judging time.
The Airborne coaches.
The girls danced around while waiting for the results.
We came in 3rd.
All the Airborne girls.

On the way out, the sky looked intense.
We stopped at a local barbecue place to have dinner and wait out the storm.
It's hard to tell but you can see the rain outside.  It got crazy for a bit but this place was solid.

We waited for the storm to pass then drove home the 2 1/2 hours.
