Out of the Snow

This is how I left things at work Friday. I was not going to miss the snow.

We had a bit of an adventure getting to this point. Of course we were running late to get to the airport. There was a lot of traffic and Aden was getting a little upset so we gave him his milk. That was a mistake. Just as we arrived at 6 for a 7 flight, Aden threw up all over himself and my car. We had no idea what to do. We opened a suitcase in the snow to find clothes for him. We wiped it all up the best we could and decided to make a run for it. You might remember that when we travel, we use Aden's Sit N Stroll which is a car seat/stroller. We needed to bring it even though it was covered in throw up. The car will hopefully turn out ok. The place we left it said they would detail it.

So after all that, the flight was delayed a bit. I should have known better than to book a flight at night which totally interrupts Aden's sleeping and eating patterns. This was also Aden's first flight since he has been mobile. He was good for a while but eventually he got really tired but wouldn't sleep so the crying started. We became "those" people. It took the better part of an hour to calm him down. He finally fell asleep for the last half hour of the flight so then of course we had to wake him. No more night flights!

Saturday morning, we could tell Aden was going to be off all day so we kept things local. There was a carnival across the street so we walked over to check it out.

It took Aden a while to get going.

Mommy found her crab cakes.

Ice cream always cheers him up.

It was only in the 50's at this point but it's never too cold for ice cream.

Guess we didn't need those bathing suits.

Saturday night we attempted to go to Houston's for dinner but Aden was still cranky and we had to leave (after waiting and hour) .

Thankfully, Aden had a good night's sleep and woke up Sunday himself. He even helped empty the dishwasher.

Don't tell me someone drove a Smart car from Canada to Florida.

We took a nice walk along the beach. It was warmer.

Then to the Garlic Festival in Del Ray.

Yes, it really was a garlic festival. They even had garlic ice cream. The food was good but I was paying for it all night.

My mom's aunt Edith and family joined us.

Cousin Debbie had a blast with Aden.

My cousin's Amy and Laura.

My parents watched Aden Sunday night so Amy and I could go to dinner at Taverna Kyma in Boca. We love it there.

Then for dessert at Max's in Mizner. It was nice to have a night away from Aden.

Elmo, Milk, Chair

It's Friday and we finally are back to reality, even if it is all white. Thursday we got up and checked out the scene.

That's a lot of snow. It's as high as the mailboxes!

Aden was back in his car looking out the window.

We wonder where all this snow is going to go.

He made some broccoli for mommy.

I opened the garage and found this. They plowed the other side of the driveway.

Aden is obsessed with Elmo and Sesame Street.

Hi!

Buddies!

He worked on his Valentines cards for the party on Friday. Who will Aden choose?

We had to get out, so we ended up at the Club House Diner in Bensalem. The food isn't so great but Aden can throw things on the floor and check out the fish.

We stopped by my grandmother's house. She had been alone for days and without power for hours. Guess we can't go this way.

Her area was a mess. Trees down everywhere.

They had fun playing.

Back to chill out and watch a little more tv.

This is the life, Elmo, milk and my basketball chair.

What Was That?

It's Thursday morning and it's a winter wonderland. Work and school are closed again so another day of family bonding.

The snow had not started before we went to bed Tuesday night. We woke up on Wednesday to about 7 fresh inches and it was raining.

The neighbors took this reprieve as an opportunity to shovel and play. We stayed in.

It was a lot of work to keep Aden entertained all day.

Aden in his car checking out the snow.

Don't think he's ready to go outside yet.

Aden did some cooking for us.

He even baked some chocolate chip muffins. Yummy. (ok that was me)

Then played his flute.

The snow finally came back and it was crazy. A total white out for hours.

It was actually scary with the howling winds. My grandmother lost power for hours. Amy parents also lost it for a while. We were ok. I cranked the heat up to like 72 and had the fireplace going just in case but the lights only dimmed a few times.

Some shots before we went to sleep.

It was still snowing heavily at 12.

There are 5 steps down out our back door. The snow was higher than the steps!

A few last shots.

Don't think anyone will be using the front walk for a while.

Stinker

It's the day before another big snowstorm. I guess we can blame it on the groundhog. We have so much food left over from the last storm that we are good to go.

I picked up Aden yesterday from school and he was running around with the other kids. I love to see him interact with his peers.

He came home in different pants than he left in. I didn't ask any questions. It's safer that way. Let's make a tower!

Of course he only builds it up to knock it down.

Then in the basement to play with his tent of balls. I think I need to get him some more balls. it didn't come with enough.

He loves the Russian nesting dolls. We have to keep him away from the littlest one as he tends to want to eat it.

Our little Stinker.

Aden got a call from school, snow day Wednesday! I guess he will be home alone while Amy and I work. Just kidding. We are all off!

Aden was not happy about going to sleep last night. He could not wait to get out of the crib this morning.

Probably not the best idea to have a pile of Cheerios in front of the baby. You can only guess what happened next. Let's just say it involved daddy and a broom.

Enough cookies, let's go to school!
