Last Friday was my birthday! We got to sleep in a little as the changing of the guards isn't that early. The great doorman found us a cab.
We headed to the Athenaeum Club to meet our tour guide. He was great! So much personality!
Our group was from Florida and Germany.
We got a history lesson as we walked towards Buckingham Palace.
The Queen Mother.
This was a palace built by Henry the 8th. It's where the changing of the guards starts. You can actually rent apartments in there. Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta Jones have one!
Here they come! They always play a song that's a surprise.
Ghostbusters!
We couldn't get close to the palace. Too many people.
Lots of stuff going on.
We hung out with the pelicans. I believe there are 6 that live there.
This might be my favorite pic of the week.
The soldiers came back to their barracks.
That was fun!
Then we took the tube again. We minded the gap!
When I briefly lived in London, this was my tube stop. So cool to be back.
Then we were in Kensington. Where all the finest shopping is.
We passed by Harrods on our way to lunch.
They sang happy birthday to me!
Then it was time for Harrods. Ariel was excited to find this makeup brand. They thought Ariel was an influencer and gave her a ton of makeup for free!
Look at all this stuff!
Needless to say, this might have been her happiest moment ever!
We spent a couple of very quick hours there. Do you like these Chanel sunglasses? I can still get them.
The food halls were nuts.
Ariel zeroed right in on the strawberries.
The strawberries that cost almost $200 for this box.
The twins found the sweets.
We got a few things to go.
Amy took the boys to the toys and electronics.
I did some shopping and got a jacket. I could have spent all day there but the twins started to lose it.
We walked along and found Cedric Grolet. Check out his videos on youtube. Makes incredible pastries.
I grabbed a small one just to try.
We went into Hyde Park to rest a little.
This little dog carried around this huge stick. It was cute.
We were attacked by birds!
We took the Tube back to Covent Garden.
We ate our Harrods sweets.
We split up for dinner. Amy took the younger 3 for pizza. Aden and I wanted to get Indian. The place we were told to go had about 200 people in line.
So we found another place. I loved the decor.
We shared some awesome butter chicken.
We met up with the rest of the family to see Back to the Future the musical.
It was such a fun play!
We all enjoyed it.
We walked back and Ariel babysat.
Amy, Aden and I went out for a drink for my birthday.
Poor Aden was just getting used to this. Now he's home and has to wait 5 years until he can drink again!
