Disneyland Day 1

Well Happy New Year!  Today is January 1st, 2020.  It's a whole new decade!  We went to a fun party last night at Ali's . Today we just chilled out and saw Star Wars!  Well, it's time to start out showing our trip to California.  There are going to be some huge posts!

Last Monday, December 23rd, we got picked up around 8 to go to Philly Airport.  That wasn't too bad.  Of course, we weren't finished packing till that morning.  We got all 6 of our clothes into 4 suitcases, which was a major accomplishment.  We had lots of carryons though.
Luckily we didn't have too long to wait.

The American Airlines plane was really nice.  Every seat had a tv and power outlets.  There were tons of movies, tv shows and music for free!  We were very worried about the kids but they were really good!  The tv's and their iPads kept them busy the whole 6 hours.
We got picked up at LAX around 3:30 and headed out to Anaheim in a pretty good rain.
We got to the Courtyard by Marriott Anaheim Theme Park Entrance about an hour later.  The driver told us about the sites as we drove.  The hotel had a nice water park, which we sadly never got to try out.  It was just too cold.  Although, there were people out there all the time.
All 6 of us in 1 room.  1 bathroom but 2 showers, which helped.
We had dinner reservations at Downtown Disney.
We walked there in the cool rain.  The two Disney parks were right across the street and Downtown Disney was just past them.
 Downtown Disney!
 We ate at Catal restaurant.
I had something yummy.  The little ones did not really eat and that did not change the whole trip.
Next door, they were making my favorite apples.

 We did a little shopping.
They had some nice stuff at this place.
I really wanted to get the Star Wars shirts.
Back to the hotel to go to sleep.  It was really late our time.
The one benefit of the time difference was that it was easy for us to get to Disney at 7 am.  It was 10 am our time.  All of us, except Amy, were up around 4.  There are 2 parks there.  The original Disneyland and the later added California Adventure.  We went to California Adventure first.  They actually let us in ay 7:15.
We ran right for Cars Land to go on the ride there that always has a huge wait.  Those of you familiar with Disney in Florida where you can get fast passes 60 days before your trip, not so much here.  You have to be in the parks to get your fast passes.
Not so fast!  The park was open but not Cars Land.  Not till 8.  Amy got mad at me because she wanted to stop for coffee but I wouldn't let her.  Then all the sudden there were thousands of people behind us so we couldn't move.
We were stuck for 45 minutes.
Then we ran to the ride!
And got right on.  This ride usually has about a 200 minute wait!
It was fun.  Just the Cars version of Test Track at Epcot.

I tried our first group shot.  We even paid for professional pictures but gave up pretty quickly and didn't take any!
 Radiator Springs was really cute.

Then we headed to Pixar Pier to get on Toy Story Mania which also can have a 200 minute wait.

 We got right on again.
This is a fun ride and it even got stuck a few times so we got an extended trip!

Amy took the kids on a merry go round.

The we did the Little Mermaid.

The other big ride with the longest waits there is Soarin'.  That we got a fast pass for so didn't have to wait.  They redid it since we did this last in Florida.  It goes all around the world.  Everyone loved it.  Aden, Mr. Geography, yelled out all the sites we saw.

This was just the first morning.  Get ready for the second half of the day tomorrow.
